A nine-year-old Newport schoolgirl has come out on top in Natasha Asghar MS’s annual Christmas card competition.
Every year the South Wales East politician invites pupils schools from across her region to put their creative skills to the test and draw a festive card design.
After whittling down lots of entries, it was Glan Usk Primary School pupil Paisley Johnson who was crowned victorious.
Paisley’s yuletide design has now been turned into Natasha’s official Christmas card and has been sent to a range of dignitaries including the King and Queen, Prince and Princess of Wales, the First Minister, Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition Kemi Badenoch MP and Members of the Senedd.
Natasha recently visited Glan Usk Primary School to announce the winner and present Paisley with copies of her winning design and prizes.
Natasha Asghar MS said:
“Every year it feels as though the job of picking a winner gets harder and harder because the entries keep getting better and better.
“It was tough picking a winner, but Paisley’s design really stood out and, for me, encapsulates all things Christmas.
“Clearly Glan Usk Primary School is the home of talented artists as this is the third time one of their pupils has won my Christmas card competition!
“A huge congratulations to Paisley and thank you to all the pupils across South Wales East who took part in the competition.”
