Starting her visit at Oystermouth Primary School in Mumbles, Natasha was joined by local County Councillor Francesca O’Brien to meet with Head Teacher Caroline Morgan, staff, and pupils.

The school, which will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2028, lies in the shadow of Oystermouth Castle and has thrived under the inspirational leadership of Mrs. Morgan and her team.

Natasha then moved on to Bishopston Comprehensive School, a secondary school teaching 11–16-year-olds under the leadership of Head Teacher Alison Sykes.

During the visit, where she was accompanied by Cllr Lyndon Jones and the Council’s Director of Education, governors, and officials. Natasha toured the school, discussed current challenges in education with Mrs. Sykes, and enjoyed a musical performance by pupils ahead of their appearance in the National Eisteddfod final later this year.

Commenting after her visit, Natasha said:

"Both schools I visited are led by inspirational, hardworking, and dedicated Head Teachers who oversee fantastic teams of staff.

“It’s clear from the joy and enthusiasm of the pupils how much they enjoy their school environment, which provides excellent conditions for learning.

“I appreciated the opportunity to discuss some of the challenges facing schools, including implementing the new curriculum, maintaining a safe environment, ensuring regular attendance, and supporting parents.

“Oystermouth’s school vision is ‘Believe, Achieve, and Shine’—and it certainly lived up to those values during my visit.

“A particular highlight at Bishopston was the musical performance. There were certainly some stars of the future in the choir and it’s wonderful to see schools like Bishopston and Oystermouth preparing pupils so well for what lies ahead.”
