A charity dedicated to supporting the homeless and less fortunate in Newport has received the backing of Natasha Asghar MS.
Newport Support Network provides a range of support for people across the city including handing out free hot meals to those in need, food parcels and food support, and baby essentials.
Natasha Asghar MS, who represents South Wales East in the Welsh Parliament, met with project manager Tariq Khan as the Network opened its new Open Pantry and Open Kitchen.
It was also an opportunity for Natasha to find out about the wide-ranging work the Network carries and exciting plans for the future.
Natasha Asghar MS said:
“It was an absolute pleasure to meet with Tariq and the team to find out about the Network’s ongoing work and latest projects.
“The team’s passion for helping people and supporting the community must be commended and he is doing a great job in bringing people together and delivering for the people of Pillgwenlly.
“I will do all I can to support the Network and ensure those who need support and help can access it.”
Tariq Khan added:
“For me, this is all about giving back to those who are in need, and I want to ensure we can do that with dignity, compassion, and accessibility for all.
“It was a real honour to be able to show Natasha around our premises and discuss some of the things we are doing at the moment and plan to do in the future.
“If anyone is struggling and needs support, please do not hesitate to stop by for a chat. You can find us at 92 Commercial Street in Newport.”
