A competition to shine a light on some of the best businesses in Newport and Islwyn has been launched by the area’s MS Natasha Asghar.
Residents from across the area are being encouraged to nominate their favourite businesses as part of Natasha’s Best of Newport and Islwyn competition.
The Welsh Conservative politician is on a mission to find the area’s best restaurant, café, pub, retail shop, takeaway and beauty outlet.
Nominations open today (August 7th) and run until October 1st, 2026.
People can send their nominations in by emailing [email protected], via Natasha’s social media channels, or by writing to Office of Natasha Asghar MS, Rathbone House, 1 Serpentine Road, Newport, NP20 4PF.
When submitting entries, residents should include a brief description of why their nominated business is so important to them.
Natasha Asghar MS said:
“I have decided to run this competition again following the success of last year’s Best of Newport initiative which proved very popular, but this time I am opening up to Islwyn as well.
“We are fortunate enough to have some amazing businesses in our communities, yet many of them are facing major challenges at the moment.
“This competition is just a fun way of celebrating businesses across Newport and Islwyn, and I would encourage you all to get involved.
“I am looking forward to seeing all of the entries!”
